36 Million Users, Nasdaq Listing, and a Super App: João Vitor Menin’s Fintech Blueprint Revealed

With the ambition of a global founder and the precision of a civil engineer, João Vitor N. Menin Teixeira de Souza has taken a once-regional bank and turned it into one of Latin America’s most important digital finance platforms. As the Global CEO of Inter&Co, Menin is behind the evolution of a traditional financial institution into a NASDAQ-listed fintech super app, now scaling its footprint across Brazil and into the U.S.

From Regional Bank to Fintech Powerhouse

Menin’s journey began inside Banco Inter, where he joined in 2004 after completing his civil engineering degree at FUMEC and an MBA in Finance from IBMEC. Initially serving as COO, he became CEO in 2015 and spearheaded Inter’s transformation from a traditional bank into a mobile-first fintech leader.

Under his leadership, Inter&Co launched an all-in-one “super app” that bundles banking, investing, insurance, loyalty programs, telecom services, and e-commerce. This bold integration of services helped differentiate Inter from legacy players and global fintech rivals alike.

“If you can combine these other features inside a bank app, you’re going to have something different, a super app,” Menin told CSQ.

Going Global: The U.S. Expansion Strategy

In 2021, Inter acquired U.S.-based remittance platform Usend, giving the company a bridge into North America. That move was followed by the 2023 opening of Inter’s U.S. headquarters in Miami, and a splashy sponsorship of Orlando’s MLS stadium, now rebranded as Inter&Co Stadium.

These steps signal more than symbolic intent. Menin envisions Inter&Co as a truly global fintech, leveraging Brazil’s massive user base as a springboard for international growth.

“We just want to have this first spark in order to start growing beyond borders,” Menin shared during a Nasdaq feature.

Metrics That Matter

As of 2024, Inter&Co boasts over 36 million users, including nearly 3 million outside Brazil. The company reported R$1.9 billion in Q2 2024 revenue, a 33% year-over-year increase, and a net income of R$64 million. More than half of its customers now use multiple services, reinforcing the strength of its super app model.

Menin’s leadership hasn’t gone unnoticed. He was honored with the BRAVO Innovative CEO award in 2024 and recognized by Forbes Brasil as one of the country’s Best Bank CEOs in 2021. Inter&Co consistently ranks among Brazil’s top digital banks, taking home iBest awards and topping innovation lists from Forbes and Bloomberg.

A Fintech Visionary with Engineering Discipline

Despite his background in engineering, Menin is a fintech visionary at heart. His ability to connect product ecosystems, banking, e-commerce, FX, insurance, under a single, seamless app has earned Inter&Co comparisons to Asia’s top digital finance platforms.

He also understands the value of brand storytelling and community-building. The naming rights deal for Inter&Co Stadium wasn’t just a marketing move, it was a signal to global consumers that Brazil’s fintech scene is ready for primetime.

Why João Vitor Menin Matters

João Vitor Menin is building more than a fintech app, he’s constructing a borderless digital economy powered by technology, trust, and multi-service convenience. His leadership at Inter&Co proves that financial innovation can scale across continents, and that Latin American tech isn’t just rising, it’s exporting.

As Inter&Co expands its global footprint, Menin remains at the center of it all, blending engineering clarity, fintech foresight, and world-class execution.
