She Rejected the Status Game, Built Mira, and Changed How Women Track Fertility Forever

Sylvia Kang

As seen in Millionaire MNL, Sylvia Kang is leading a quiet revolution in women’s health. A classically trained pianist turned biomedical engineer, Kang is now the Co-Founder and CEO of Mira, a hormone health platform empowering over 130,000 families with personalized fertility tracking tools.

With FDA- and CE-registered technology boasting 99% accuracy, Mira is one of the most advanced home-testing devices on the market, bringing clinical-grade insights directly to women’s fingertips.

From Concert Halls to Hormone Labs

Kang’s journey is far from typical. After years of training as a concert pianist, she pivoted toward science, earning an MS in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University, followed by an MBA from Cornell.

In 2018, frustrated by the one-size-fits-all approach to fertility care, she launched Mira with the goal of making hormone health measurable, accessible, and deeply personal. Today, Mira is one of the few FemTech companies offering real-time, lab-grade hormone tracking from home.

Awards, Recognition, and Relentless Mission

Under Kang’s leadership, Mira has achieved milestone recognition:

  • 2025 EY Entrepreneur of the Year (Bay Area) finalist and winner

  • Named one of 200 Trailblazing Leaders in Women’s Health & FemTech by Women of Wearables

  • Profiled in Forbes and Business Insider, which highlighted her modest lifestyle as a self-made millionaire by age 37

Despite her success, Kang remains grounded, driving a Tesla for practicality, living in a middle-class home, and staying laser-focused on impact over status.

A Thought Leader in FemTech and Hormone Advocacy

On LinkedIn (6,400+ followers) and speaking circuits, Kang regularly shares insight into the real needs of women navigating fertility, PCOS, perimenopause, and more. She champions hormone literacy as the next frontier in healthcare.

“We’re not just building a device, we’re rebuilding trust in women’s bodies,” she said in a recent post.

Her multidisciplinary background enables her to communicate science with clarity and compassion, making Mira a rare blend of clinical rigor and user-centric design.
